Temple Terrace Roof Replacement for Older Homes, Done Right.

A lot of Temple Terrace homes have been here a long time, and what’s under an aging roof isn’t always what a quick look suggests. Soft decking, layers of old shingles, and past patch jobs can all be waiting once we tear off. We check for that before we start, tell you exactly what we find, and rebuild down to a solid, dry deck so your new roof sits on something sound. No mid-job surprises, no padded change orders. Just a roof that’s done right from the wood up.

I can't say enough good things about The Roofing Company. From start to finish they have done everything that meets expectations and beats their competitors. Great customer service. Answered any questions we had. Had no unforeseen surprises. Work was done extremely timely. Had no delays. Roof was done in two days. Clean up was good for a roofing company. They took care of the inspections and set up the wind mitigation inspection. Couldn't be happier. So glad we went with our gut on this project as they beat the other more well known company hands down. Thank you!

This roofing company was professional in every way. We just had our roof replaced by The Roofing Company due to Hurricane Irma damage and old age. Carlos and crew came in, ripped off the old, repaired and then replaced our multiple leveled and peaked roof with skill and precision. They were thorough and hardworking. They did an great job from the start all the way to the clean up! We couldn't have asked for a better experience! The new roof on our home and our detached garage look amazing! Thanks to all involved from the owner Chris to the supervisor Gene to the hardest working crew imaginable, Carlos and his crew! Bring on the rains!

From start to finish The Roofing Company has met and exceeded our expectations. We needed a whole roof replacement and hurricane straps and we (and our inspector) think everything looks great! The crew on the roof was there each day bright and early and did a fantastic job. Everyone we had contact with in the company was professional and helpful and guided us through every step of the way.

When I needed a new roof, I had several companies, including The Roofing Company give me an estimate. Dennis Wood came out to my home and thoroughly explained everything about the product and the roofing process. He was knowledgeable, personable and efficient and was the major reason I trusted The Roofing Company to put a new roof on my home. The workers were courteous, quiet and made sure the yard was clean and free of debris; and Dennis was there to supervise and make sure I was completely satisfied. I highly recommend Dennis Wood and The Roofing Company.

A Temple Terrace Roof Replacement Done Right

Temple Terrace is a tile town. A lot of the older homes here were built with barrel tile, and it is a big part of why the streets look the way they do. Replacing a tile roof is a different project than swapping out shingles. Tile is a premium, long lived material, the kind of roof that stays on a home for decades, so the decision is worth slowing down for. We have done plenty of tile roof replacements in this city, and we handle shingle when that is what the home calls for, the same work we bring to homes across Hillsborough County.

The Roofing System Beneath the Surface

A roof replacement is not just about what people see from the street. The right choice depends on the home, the roof’s structure, the look you want, the long-term plan, and the budget. Some Temple Terrace homes need a full replacement, while others may still have useful life left with the right repair. If your roof does not need to be replaced yet, we will tell you that and steer you toward a Temple Terrace roof repair instead of pushing a full replacement.

With any roof replacement, the part that matters most is the system underneath. That means preparing the roof deck properly, installing code-rated underlayment, rebuilding flashing at walls, valleys, vents, and penetrations, and making sure every component is installed to protect the home from Florida rain, wind, and heat. A good-looking roof still has to perform, and that starts with the details most homeowners never see. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, we can also offer strong manufacturer-backed warranty options on qualifying roof replacements that standard installations cannot match.

Temple Terrace Roof Replacement FAQs

Here are the questions we hear most.

A few things move the number: the size of the home, the material going on, and what we find once the old roof comes off. Temple Terrace has a lot of older homes, and it is common to pull back shingles or tile and find soft decking, prior patches, or layers that have to be stripped before anything new can go down. We check the deck condition before we price the job, and we explain upfront what we expect to find and how we handle it if something different turns up. A full roof replacement estimate is always free.
Tile replacement is a more involved job than a shingle swap. The old tiles and battens come off first, then the deck is inspected and repaired where needed, new underlayment goes down across the full surface, and the battens and tiles are reinstalled. The most common failure point on a tile roof is not the tile itself but the underlayment beneath it, which can dry out and crack long before the tile shows any sign of wear. That is why when a tile roof is ready to go, the full system gets replaced, not just the surface material.
Yes. Homes with combined roof systems are common in Temple Terrace, and we replace flat sections alongside pitched roofs in the same project. Flat roofs use a different system, typically TPO or modified bitumen, and they have their own underlayment, drainage, and flashing requirements. Handling both at once means one mobilization, one crew, and one inspection, which is usually cleaner and more cost-effective than scheduling two separate jobs.
Temple Terrace is an incorporated city with its own building department, so permits are issued through the City of Temple Terrace Building Department rather than through the county. A permit is required for every replacement. We pull the permit on your behalf before work begins and coordinate the required inspections so the process is handled without any extra steps on your end.
If the damage is contained and the underlying system is still solid, a Temple Terrace roof repair can buy you several more years. If what we find points to widespread underlayment failure, widespread deck deterioration, or a roof that has simply run its course, we will tell you that plainly and show you what we found. We do not push replacements on homes that do not need one, and we do not recommend repairs on roofs that have genuinely reached the end of their life.
We stop, photograph what we found, and call you before proceeding. Rotted decking, soft spots, or water damage that was invisible from the outside has to be addressed before new material goes down, because skipping it means the new roof sits on an unstable foundation. We tell you exactly what needs to be replaced, what it will cost, and why before any additional work begins. No work happens without your approval, and we do not pad those numbers.
Storm-related damage is often covered under homeowner's insurance depending on the cause and your specific policy. We document everything with photos, provide a detailed written estimate your insurance company can use, and walk you through the storm damage claim process. Filing sooner matters because insurance policies have deadlines for claims after a weather event.
