We had a gazebo roof replaced, including some supporting wood. Also a eave repair and some damaged house shingles. They did the job in two days and left the work site clean. Not everyone we called would do a smaller job like ours. We are happy with the work done. The only negative I can say is they had to reschedule the start date twice, but once was due to rain. I would hire them again.😊

We had a great experience working with John W! He came on time, was courteous, professional and knowledgeable about our problem. John was able to fix our leak the same day and delivered excellent service with a smile. We will gladly call again next time we have any issues with our roof. Thanks John!

Fantastic experience from start to finish!!! There was constant, clear communication throughout the entire process. They were very different from any other roofer that I had spoken with in the past. I would highly recommend them to anybody looking for either repair or a new roof. My project included three skylights which will also install flawlessly. Highly recommend!

It's not too often that I get motivated to post a review as I always leave to others. Anyway I make the exception this time to make comment. In the future The Roofing Company will be my first phone call when the time comes for a roof replacement. Obviously I felt that I was treated very well.

Palm Harbor Roof Repair Under the Tree Canopy

Drive through the established parts of Palm Harbor and the first thing you notice is the trees. Mature oaks shade a lot of the homes here, and that canopy does more to a roof than most people expect. Overhanging limbs drop debris into the valleys and shaded slopes stay damp long after the rain stops, which wears a roof in ways open sun never does. We know to check the shaded side of a Palm Harbor roof, not just the side the sun hits, because that is where a lot of the early wear hides. We handle roof repair work on these homes, part of what we do for Pinellas County homes across the area.

What the Oaks Do to a Palm Harbor Roof

The damage a canopy causes is slow and specific. Leaves and twigs pile up in the valleys and behind the chimney, hold water against the roof, and let it work under the shingles instead of running off. The slopes that stay in shade grow a film of moss, algae, and lichen that lifts shingle edges and pulls granules loose over time. And in a strong wind, low limbs scrape the same stretch of roof again and again. None of it announces itself, so on a tree-shaded Palm Harbor home these are the first spots we check.

Most of it is a straightforward repair. We clear the valley, swap out the worn section, reseal where water was getting in, and the roof is good for years more. It only becomes a bigger conversation when the damp and debris have sat long enough to break down a whole shaded slope, the surface and the wood beneath it together. At that point patching one spot solves nothing, and an honest Palm Harbor roof replacement is the better money. We will show you what we find and tell you straight which one it is.

Palm Harbor Roof Repair FAQs

Here are the questions we hear most.

It does, more than in most towns, because Palm Harbor is really two different worlds. Out west toward the water in Ozona, Crystal Beach, and Baywood, homes take constant salt air off St. Joseph Sound, which corrodes metal flashing, fasteners, and vents and shortens roof life. Inland, around Lake Tarpon and communities like Lansbrook, Ridgemoor, and Highland Lakes, salt is much less of a factor and the bigger issues are sun and storm wear. We tailor the repair to where you actually are, using corrosion-resistant materials on the coastal side and focusing on sun and wind durability inland.
In most cases we can repair just the damaged area. If the problem is contained, a few lifted shingles, one leak, or a cracked tile or two, there is no reason to touch the rest of a sound roof, and a targeted repair costs far less. We only point you toward replacing the entire roof when the damage is widespread, the decking underneath is failing, or the roof is worn out across the board, and we show you the photos so you can see why. At The Roofing Company of Tampa Bay, the goal is to fix what is broken, not sell you more than you need.
Pinellas County does, not a city. Palm Harbor is unincorporated, so even though it has its own name and ZIP codes, it is not its own municipality, and roof permits go through Pinellas County Building and Development Review Services rather than a city hall. The county handles applications and inspections online through its access portal, and for anything beyond a minor patch a permit is required. We file it, submit the product approvals, and schedule the inspections for you, so the permit is never something you have to chase down or figure out on your own.
It is tempting, but in this climate it rarely pays off. A small leak does not stay small. Florida humidity and the daily summer rain keep the area wet, so water that gets past the surface spreads into the decking, insulation, and ceiling, and a quiet drip can turn into stained drywall and soft wood in a matter of weeks. The good news is that caught early, most leaks are a quick repair rather than a major project. If you are seeing a stain, a drip, or a soft spot on the ceiling, it is worth having us look before the next storm makes it worse.
Most roof repairs in Palm Harbor land between $300 and $2,500. What yours runs comes down to what shapes the cost: the size of the damaged area, your roof type, the pitch, and what we find once we open up the damaged section. Two local factors can nudge it. Homes on the waterfront side often need corrosion-resistant materials that hold up to salt, and the established homes inland sometimes hide worn decking that needs attention. You get a written estimate before any work starts, so the price you approve is the price you pay, and the inspection is free.
Yes, those make up a big share of Palm Harbor, and we work in all of them, including Highland Lakes, Lansbrook, Ridgemoor, Tarpon Woods, and the Innisbrook area. The thing to know about these communities is that most are deed-restricted or have a homeowners association with rules on roof color, material, and appearance, and many require approval before visible work begins. We are used to that. We help you confirm what your association allows and prepare whatever it needs to sign off, so your repair gets done without a violation notice later. Gated communities are no problem either, since we coordinate access ahead of time.
It splits along that coastal and inland line again. Near the water, salt air is the big driver, corroding flashing and fasteners and wearing roofs down faster, plus wind off the Gulf that lifts shingles. Inland, it is more about sun-baked, brittle shingles and worn sealant around vents and chimneys. Across the whole area, a lot of homes were built between the late 1970s and the 1990s, so plenty of roofs are simply old enough to be showing their age. Most of it starts as small, fixable damage, which is why an early look saves you money.
Often it will, when the damage comes from a covered event like wind or a fallen tree rather than age and gradual wear. To be straight with you, we do not file or handle the claim for you, but we guide you through it. We document the storm damage in detail with photos and a written assessment you can give your adjuster, and we explain what we are seeing so you can have an informed conversation with your insurer. Florida has tight deadlines for reporting storm claims, so do not sit on it. If the damage comes in under your deductible, a direct repair is usually the simpler route.
Most repairs are done in a single day, and many in just a few hours. The ones that run longer are larger jobs, tile work, or anything where we open the roof and find decking that needs replacing, and we always give you a clear timeline before we start so there are no surprises. You do not need to be home for the work itself, since it all happens outside, but we do ask that you are reachable by phone in case we find something that changes the scope and needs your okay before we keep going.
Yes. Most repairs are small enough to settle on completion, but if a job turns out bigger than expected, we offer a payment plan that spreads the cost into manageable monthly payments instead of one lump sum. It is a quick application, and you can see what you qualify for before you commit to anything. Just ask when you book your free estimate and we will go over the options that fit your budget.
